Our Starter Set is just what sounds like—everything you need to get started cooking with cast iron.
Whether it's your very first cast iron skillet or an upgrade from the rough stuff, you'll love our vintage-style iron: light enough for everyday use, with a smooth naturally non-stick surface.
Chain Mail Scrubber - Use the stainless steel Chain Mail Scrubber to get rid of stubborn food residue. Even if your skillet is relatively clean, we recommend gently scuffing the surface and side walls of your skillet, preparing it to accept new and stronger seasoning.
Field Seasoning Oil - Dry your cast iron, then apply a thin coat of Seasoning Oil to all surfaces—including the side walls and bottom. Even a thin coating will help ensure that you're building new, resilient seasoning every time you heat your skillet. Cook often, and apply after every use!
Field Skillets match traditional vintage sizing conventions, where the “number” corresponds not to diameter in inches, but to the burner ring size on an old-fashioned wood-burning stove. That means a No.10 skillet is actually larger than 10 inches. (It’s tricky, we know.)
Fiel cast iron cookware is compatible with all stovetop burner types, including glass and ceramic induction ranges. Like all great tools, cast iron cookware gets better with time and use. To keep your Field Skillet in top condition:
Most importantly, cook often!
