Quick Checklist Before You Buy

• Measure the opening's width, depth and height, plus the doorways and hallways on the delivery path.
• Confirm fuel and power. Gas ranges need a gas line (and a conversion kit for propane). Electric, induction and dual fuel ranges need the right electrical circuit, often 240 volts.
• Plan ventilation. Choose a hood at least as wide as the range, and plan about 100 CFM per 10,000 BTU of gas cooktop output. Above about 400 CFM, many codes require make-up air, so check your local code.
