Thor A-Series Range Review

Updated October 2026

Looking for a professional-style range for your kitchen but want to keep your renovation budget in check? Thor Kitchen, maker of pro-style ranges, rangetops and other kitchen appliances, has an option worth a look, whether you're giving your kitchen a complete facelift or just upgrading your range. Thor Kitchen's A-Series is the brand's entry pro-style range line. It comes in gas and electric versions in 30- and 36-inch widths, plus a 48-inch model that is gas only. You can see every model in our Thor Kitchen A-Series collection.

Let's take a deeper dive into the features and functions of this line so you can see how it compares with the other ranges on your list. Prices change often, so check each listing below for current pricing.

High-Powered Burners

Thor Kitchen A-Series 30-inch gas range

The first thing on many shoppers' range wishlists is a powerful cooktop, and the A-Series gas models deliver. The 30-inch gas model (ARG30) has four sealed burners, from an 18,000 BTU power burner down to a 3,500 BTU burner that's perfect for simmering sauces, melting chocolate and other low-heat tasks. The other two burners are 12,000 and 9,000 BTU. The 36-inch gas range (ARG36) has six burners: one 18,000 BTU burner that boils water quickly and heats pans in a snap, three 12,000 BTU burners and two 9,000 BTU burners. Everyone has a favorite go-to burner, and the 18,000 BTU burner will probably fill that role.

Need more cooktop space? The 48-inch gas range (ARG48) has eight sealed burners, including a 22,000 BTU dual burner with an 800 BTU simmer setting, two 18,000 BTU burners, three 12,000 BTU burners and two 9,500 BTU burners. The 48-inch A-Series range is available in gas only.

Likewise, the Thor Kitchen electric ranges deliver plenty of power. The 30-inch electric range (ARE30) has four radiant cooktop elements ranging from 1,200 to 3,000 watts to match your cooking needs. Similarly, the 36-inch electric model (ARE36) has five elements with the same 1,200- to 3,000-watt range. Both have a black glass cooktop that wipes clean easily.

Large Oven Capacity

Beyond a powerful cooktop, the next major feature to consider in a range is the oven, and Thor Kitchen has good news for bakers and home chefs. Every A-Series range has a convection oven with a convection fan for even heat distribution. Oven capacity is 4.8 cu. ft. on the 30-inch models and 6.0 cu. ft. on the 36-inch models. The 48-inch gas range splits 7.6 cu. ft. across two ovens (4.8 and 2.8 cu. ft.), so you can cook two dishes in separate ovens. A large oven window and oven lights make cooking and baking easier, since you can check on what's cooking without opening the oven door.

Multiple Cooking Modes

One popular feature on pro-style ranges is multiple cooking modes, which make meal prep a breeze. On the A-Series gas ranges, Thor Kitchen lists bake, broil, convection bake/roast, pizza and keep warm, covering the basics for most baking and cooking needs. Check the specification sheet on each listing for the exact modes on the electric models.

Pro-Style Design Touches

Let's start with the stainless steel construction and sleek lines, which give the A-Series a professional look. On the gas models, you'll enjoy heavy-duty continuous cast-iron grates, which can accommodate all of your various sized cookware, and a one-piece porcelain spill tray that makes cleanup easy. Both the gas and electric options feature LED displays and heavy-duty control knobs.

As you can see, the Thor Kitchen A-Series offers the power and features many shoppers want in a pro-style range. If you're weighing it against Thor's L-Series, our Thor LRG vs ARG comparison breaks down the differences, and our Thor Kitchen brand review covers who makes Thor and what to expect from the brand.
